Bas shows in this DIY project how you can make a beautiful, large and floating desk yourself. For this job he ordered a custom-made pine carpentry panel 18mm. Read more about his approach and experience below.

Description by Bas

I made a floating desk that is 385 meters wide and 0.80 meters deep. This is not a standard size so you have to make it yourself. I first attached a frame to the wall. I then had the desktop cut to size online. I attached the top to the frame from the bottom so that not a single screw is visible and therefore there is no need to putty.

How I made this project

1. Attach beams to the back wall and side walls. I did this by using impact plugs on the back wall and connectors and impact plugs on the side wall.
2. Connect 3 cross beams from one wall to the other wall. The distance I had to cover was 3.85 meters.
3. Place the top that you had cut to size on this frame.
4. Take care of the finish at the front by attaching an extra plank of the same material as the top.
5. Finish the work by varnishing the top with a transparent varnish.
