In this DIY project, François shows he made a practical storage box with sheet material ordered online. By choosing okoume plywood, it has become a robust storage unit.

Description of the Francois

Inner trunk suitable for a Spacetourer Van (or equivalent) with internal fixings on 2 rails. The trunk can be positioned on the side or facing the road using the 2 sets of rails on the vehicle.

How I carried out this project

Step 1: Taking of dimensions in the van so that the trunk can take the 2 positions (width 80 cm and depth 37 cm) and that a person can sit without touching the ceiling of the van (height 35 cm).Step 2: Calculation of the different sizes of the boards to be provided so that the assembly can be done by screws in 15 mm plywood (except the 2 small sides in 25 mm to ensure the rigidity of the whole) Step 3: Assembly simple by screw Step 4: Installing the accessories (hinges, varnish and handles)

Dimensions of my DIY project

External dimensions: Width 80 cmDepth 37 cm (cover 38 cm to facilitate opening)Height 35 cm
