Description
The project concerns a cove for making a ceiling unit extractor hood above a cooking island. With a cove on the end for some cookbooks, etc.
Work description: how did you realize your project
Have everything mitered for a sleek finish so that I could immediately coat it with the same latex as on the walls and ceiling. The bottom plate is 22mm thick, this was necessary for the extractor hood, the rest was kept as light as possible of 9mm. In retrospect I would have liked to make this a little thicker.
Cut out a hole on the end for the niche (2). The niche itself (3,4) was then made from residual material that I had left over from the recess that I had to make for the extractor hood (6). Make sure the niche fits perfectly on the end plate by sanding it smooth. (5) Glued everything together using tape (6,7), then reinforced with beams. After consulting with the extractor hood manufacturer, it turned out that the extractor hood could be a bit higher, so 20 cm was removed from the top. (8e) Large surfaces made a bit stiffer by screwing beams on them, to eliminate the sound box effect. For this reason and the large weight (40kg extractor hood, 20kg niche with books and statue) I would have preferred to use slightly thicker walls. But it was also achieved through reinforcement. Completely attached to the ceiling (9th), first without cove due to weight, cove screwed back in. Everything plastered and sauced 3 times. Extractor hood and spotlight installed (10). End result (1).
Final size: What are the outside dimensions?
